About Krys

Krys Sikora was born in Montreal and has lived in Toronto, St. John’s, and Calgary.  For the past 23 years she has made Golden, BC her home, living fulltime in the community since 2008.  Krys is a graduate from the University of Calgary (B.COMM). She enjoyed a fulfilling business career; her last position was as National Sales Manager of WestJet Airlines.  After giving up city life, Krys and her husband invested in Chatter Creek Cat Skiing and have successful ran the company for the past 21 years.  They also raise organic beef and run Rocky Mountain Cabins and Home on their hobby farm.  Krys is a passionate volunteer and has spent most of her life helping different organizations.  In Golden she has served as Director of the Golden and District Community Foundation, as President of the community Golden Golf Club, 10 years on the CBT Community Initiative Committee and six years as Governor of the College of the Rockies. Krys is a volunteer at the Golden Seniors Society and has been instrumental in helping build an addition on the Senior Centre.

Krys began painting 12 years ago and has been instrumental in working with the College of the Rockies to create an art program for the community. In 2015 she organized the Strategic Plan for Art Guild for the community, which was funded by Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance and the CBT. Part of that plan’s goal was to bring more and a variety of instructors to the emerging artists of Golden. Krys has successfully accomplished these goals; the College and the Golden Visual Arts Guild have hosted numerous different workshops in the community. The Guild has also grown in membership and we currently have 28 regular artists that participate in the Guild.
